What Is Editable In Tina

Keep npm run dev running, open http://localhost:4321/admin/, and click Enter Edit Mode. You need no account and no password. Open the menu at the top left, then pick an entry, a language folder, and a file. Tina has the full guide. Everything below exists in English, French, and Arabic, and an edit changes one language.
Where Each Page Is Edited
The last column lists the sections you can change for that page only, in the page’s own form. Every other section on the page comes from Section defaults.
| Address | Entry in /admin/ | The page’s own blocks |
|---|---|---|
/ | Home pages, -index | Hero, logo strip, company, services, benefits, process, testimonial, impact, calculator, coverage, why us, FAQ, blog, call to action |

/home-three/ | Home pages, home-three | Hero, logo strip, statement, bento, mission, feature slider, impact, testimonial, blog, contact band |

Use Create New to add a service, project, job, post, or other page. Authors and Testimonials hold the people and quotes the pages show. A new entry with only a title won’t break the site, and it builds. Its card or page shows what you filled in, and images and other fields stay empty until you add them, so fill them in before you publish.
Sections
Section defaults holds the shared content of each section, in each language. A change there shows on every page that uses the section, unless the page has filled in its own block.

Site-Wide Content
- Site settings (
config.toml): Site (name, address, logo), Seo (including Robots Txt, Ai, Local Business, and Sitemap), Settings, Opengraph, and Head for analytics tags. Settings holds the forms, Newsletter, Smooth Scroll, Animation, Cookie Consent, Page Actions, Copyright, Theme Credit, Multilingual, Contact Info, the mobile menu panel (Header Offcanvas), the header button (Navigation Button), and Announcement Bar. - Header and footer layouts: Settings > Header is
classic, transparent, floating, orpromo. Settings > Footer iswordmark, newsletter, cta, orcontact, with its band, photo, and postcode settings. A page can choose its own with Header Layout, Footer Layout, and Announcement strip text in its form. - Menus, one file per language: Header Primary with dropdowns and mega menus, and the footer’s Footer Secondary and Footer Privacy. See Menus.
- Social links: your profiles.
- Interface labels, one file per language: buttons, form messages, the 404 page, footer text, and the AI labels.
If You Clear A Field
A field you never filled uses the text from Section defaults. A field you clear is saved empty, which hides that text or image on that page. Tina can’t bring the default back by itself. To restore it, copy the text back from Section defaults, or remove the empty line from the file.
What The Preview Doesn’t Update
The preview doesn’t update the header and menus, or values from Site settings, while you type. They update when you save. Some Site settings also need npm run dev restarted, and the comment in the field says so.
Click-to-edit doesn’t reach the header and menus, values from Site settings, images with no alt field, or categories and tags. Use their forms.
What Stays In Code
- Which sections a page has, and their order: the route in
src/pages/[...lang]/. You can hide a section with its Enable field. - New sections and new page layouts. Then run
npm run tina:generateso the editor offers them. - Colors and type scale (
src/styles/theme.css) and fonts (src/config/fonts.json). - The list of languages: see Internationalization.
- The source of the Components demo page, which uses raw HTML, so its body is edited as source code.
Versions And Testing
This edition is tested on Astro 7.4.2 and Node 22, with tinacms 3.15.1, @tinacms/cli 4.0.4, and @tinacms/astro 0.8.0. They are pinned in package.json. The live preview uses experimental features of @tinacms/astro, so test it before you upgrade.
Online editing has not been run against a live Tina Cloud project. Try one save on a copy of your site before you rely on it. See Tina.
Do It With AI
I use the Tina edition. Tell me where to edit [TEXT OR SETTING] at /admin/: the sidebar entry, thefile, and the field. If it comes from Section defaults, say which pages will change, and how tochange it on one page only. Don't change any files.
