What Is Editable In Sanity

Files: sanity.config.ts, sanity/, .env · Skill level: Beginner

Run npm run dev:all and open the Studio at http://localhost:3333. Content has one entry per language, then Site settings. See Sanity for the full guide.

Where Each Page Is Edited

In the Studio, open Content, then your language. Each page also has its own version at /fr/ and /ar/, in that language’s entry.

A row changes one section for that page only, and a field you leave empty keeps the section’s own content.

Page options: Folex has no separate Page options group. Page settings are plain fields on each document, such as Title, Meta Description, and Draft. The Studio has no switch for leaving one page out of the sitemap or the llms files in this theme.

Use the + button to add a service, project, team member, post, author, or other page.

A new entry with only a title won’t break the site, and it builds. Its card or page shows what you filled in, and images and other fields stay empty until you add them, so fill them in before you publish. We tested this in the bundled demo content, not on a real project.

Sections

Each section’s shared content is under Sections, in each language. Set Options > Layout where a section has more than one layout.

Site-Wide Content

  • Menus (one document per language): Header menu, with dropdowns and mega menus, then Footer links, Footer legal links, and Second footer layout: links. See Menus.
  • Interface labels (one document per language): buttons, labels, form messages, footer copy (Footer), tagline and description (Site), address (Contact Info), and the 404 page (Not Found).
  • Site settings (below the languages, one for the whole site): Site for title, URL, and logo. SEO for keywords, robots, AI files, and sitemap. Settings for the contact form, phone and email, sticky header, side panel, header button, copyright, subscription, smooth scroll, theme credit, and Ask AI links. Opengraph. Head for analytics tags. Social for your social links.

Site settings apply when the site builds. While npm run dev:all runs, they apply when you publish them, and click-to-edit doesn’t reach them. Click-to-edit also doesn’t reach option values, links, icon names, or images set as a background. Edit those in the form.

Plans And Attributes

At the time of writing, Sanity’s free plan allows 2,000 attributes, one for each distinct field path in your content. The Folex demo content, with its images, measured 780 on a real project, so it fits. New fields use more attributes. See Sanity’s pricing for current limits.

Online Preview

Click-to-edit and draft preview work out of the box on your own computer. To use them online, you need a second copy of the site running as a small Node.js server. A static host can’t do this. Without it, editors online can still edit in the Studio’s forms and publish. See Sanity.

What We Tested

  • Tested: the preview server running on localhost.
  • Not tested: any online host, a deployed Studio, or Netlify or Vercel functions, which this doesn’t support.
  • Not tested: a webhook end to end on any host.

What Stays In Code

  • The page routes and the order of sections on a page: src/pages/[...lang]/
  • Each page’s footer layout and header style: footerLayout, headerPosition, and hasHeaderDarkBackground in its route. See Header and Footer.
  • Section and component design, colors, the type scale, and fonts
  • The list of languages: src/config/language.json
  • Favicons, and the language settings and collection folder names in config.toml
  • Which sections and fields exist: to add one, see SKILLS.md

Do It With AI

I want to change [WHAT] on [PAGE ADDRESS] in the Sanity edition. Tell me which Studio document and
field holds it. If it is a section, tell me which other pages show it, and if this page has a row
for it under Sections on this page. If it stays in code, make the change in src/pages/[...lang]/
and run npm run astro-check. Don't print or change anything in .env.
